For over a year, one of London's best bars, Artesian at the Langham, has had Humble Chicken's Angelo Sato in charge of the food. However, as he focuses on getting his third Michelin star, it's time for a change at the bar and they've brought in someone just as impressive, Chet Sharma of hit Mayfair restaurant Bibi.
This is all part of Artesian's new menu launch, named Ultimo, which is the third iteration of a series of cocktail menus, created by head bartender Giulia Cuccurullo. There are sixteen new cocktails on the list, with sustainability and inventiveness at the forefront. That translates into cocktails like:
- Parsnip - A twist on the Espresso Martini with a note of parsnip (Grey Goose, Metaxa 12 Stars, Amaro Lucano, parsnips, coffee and butter).
- Apple - A Champagne cocktail inspired by the flavours of apple crumble (Johnnie Walker Blue, Courvoisier VSOP, Disaronno, apple and Perrier-Jouët)
As for Chet Sharma's food, he'll be launching a series of "elevated bar bites" to go with the drinks. They'll follow the same contemporary Indian approach of his restaurant BiBi. On his menu here, you'll find snacks like aged N25 caviar with coconut Shakargandi blinis and Kasoori Methi Chicken Pakora alongside:
- Wookey Hole Cheese Papad with green chutney
- Avocado & Cucumber Jhal Muri - Avocado tartare, roasted peanuts, jalapeno dressing
- Lamb Keema Kulcha, Pickled Chilli Butter - stuffed naan bread with masala-spiced lamb shoulder
- Stilton Malai Kofta - crisp fried blue cheese dumpling, mango chutney
- Skewers of tamarind miso glazed pork or aubergine with crisp rice
Artesian is an excellent bar and if you've yet to try Chet Sharma's food, this will be a great place to start.
