Blinds is a 'groovy new wine bar' opening on Hackney Road

If you feel that your part of London could do with a few more decent wine bars, then you might feel that one particular part of East London has more than its fair share. Hackney Road is already home to the likes of Sager + Wilde (the OG natural wine bar) and Provisions but it's gearing up for another new opening this summer.

Blinds is a new bar that's opening up in a former blinds shop, hence the name, almost opposite Provisions. The trio behind it are Arthur Gomez, along with Thomas Barclay and Jean Michel Peragine. Gomez is the one with all the hospitality experience having worked at Hedonism's Wine's The White Horse pub in Mayfair, been a sommelier at Terroirs and most recently been responsible for building wine lists for Michelin-starred restaurants in his role at Classic Fine Foods UK.

At Hackney, they're planning to serve up a mixture of natural wines, cocktails and food. That food menu will include a range of pies, cheese and charcuterie plates, burrata with olive oil, pâté en croûte, sardines in oil, saucisson, and a selection of pickles. "It's a a groovy new wine bar focused on natural wines and an ever-evolving menu of small plates," says Gomez.

On the wine front, he explained to Hot Dinners that their list "leans heavily into natural wines, spotlighting bottles from small-scale producers we admire. It's all about good juice for curious drinkers, with a constantly rotating selection to keep things interesting."

There will also be DJ sets on the weekends and a carefully curated soundtrack for maximum vibes.
