Mayfair residents wondering what's happening over at the old Ruya site on Upper Grosvenor Street, next to Corrigan's, should know that they'll have a new restaurant on their doorstep before the end of the year. Turns out that it's been bought by the Thesleff Group which is behind Los Mochis in Notting Hill, Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge and the Juno and Luna omakase restaurants.
Right now, we don't know exactly what they have planned for it, as contracts have just been signed. But we do know that it's not going to be a version of their existing restaurants but a brand-new idea. It's a pretty massive space so there's plenty of room for them to get creative.
"This acquisition is more than just a new address — it’s a return," said Markus Thesleff. His first hospitality venture was the Mayfair club Pangaea, which was always a popular hangout of Prince Harry back in his pre-Megan days. “Mayfair has always been part of my story...With this new concept, we’re not seeking to redefine Mayfair - we’re simply bringing our flavour of hospitality to it."
