Sino is bringing its contemporary take on Ukrainian food to Notting Hill

Ukrainian restaurant Sino to open in Notting Hill

Following the recently opened Tatar Bunar, another new Ukrainian restaurant is coming to London. Sino comes from Polina Sychova and chef Eugene Korolev, the latter who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe.

The name Sino means "hay" in Ukraine, and that's reflected in the intricate launch menu which includes:

  • Hay-infused wild mushroom broth
  • Aubergine marinated with dill flowers, fennel and garlic served with Kyyrma bread
  • Beef tartar with ceps sabayon, Jerusalem artichoke crisps and lovage oil
  • Cherry glazed BBQ catfish, fried parsley root, samphire, Kovbasa sausage, dried grated mussels and bell pepper sauce
  • Vareniky dumplings with ox tail, spicy beef broth, and housemade mushroom garum
  • Aged walnut ice-cream with smoked plum chocolate mousse

Ukrainian mixologist Ana Reznik (previously at A Bar with Shapes for a Name) is in charge of cocktails, which include a Buckwheat Milk Punch, made with buckwheat, cardamom, vanilla and aged rum.

It's taken over the space that once belonged to 7 Saints restaurant and in a reference to the name, you'll see hay motifs throughout.
