Rotisserie chicken and pork belly is on the menu at Chuck's in Brixton

Rotisserie chicken and pork belly is on the menu at Chuck's in Brixton

Over in Brixton two seasoned restaurateurs are teaming up for what sounds like a very promising rotisserie restaurant. They're Kieran Monteiro (previously Boma) and Sam Mousawi (who ran the Park Road Kitchen Group in Battersea) and their new place, Chuck's, brings rotisserie chicken and pork to Brixton Village at pretty decent prices.

Set inside Brixton Village Market, their rotisserie grill (which they've already given the nickname "Esmerelda") will be primarily cooking up responsibly-raised chickens and slow-cooked pork belly. The chicken is given a 24-hour house marinade, while the pork is covered in their own "Chuck's rub" and slow-cooked to make sure there's plenty of crispy crackling.

As for how you want your chicken or pork, you can choose to have it as a sandwich or box, the latter coming with either two sides or a salad. Those sides include chicken dripping rotisserie roasted potatoes, tenderstem broccoli with flaked almonds or grilled ciabatta with olive oil. Alternatively, they have half and whole chickens which, at £12 or £22 are pretty well priced, we think. As for dessert, that's a Chuck's Chocolate Pot with honeycomb and sea salt.

Of the opening, Sam says "We’re passionate about food that makes people feel good" while Kieran adds "We love the area for its energy and diversity and we’re excited to add something new and delectable to the mix."

Plus, watch out for their opening date in April when they'll be having a day of free tastings.
