2025 continues to be a year of dining well in London pubs. The latest central London boozer to take things up a notch is Belgravia pub The Alfred Tennyson, which is just getting ready to unveil a new upstairs dining room.
Alfie's will offer a very different menu to the general pub food downstairs, with a series of dishes created by the pub's Executive chef Ben Tish and Head Chef Chef Stevie Phillip (ex-Blanchette and The Dorchester). The design too will reflect that elevated offering, so up here you'll have tablecloths and flickering candles to give it more of a restaurant vibe.
On offer here will be dishes like:
- Paté en croute
- Hereford beef tartare, served tableside
- Roasted brill with Cornish mussels and a smoked mackerel sauce
- Pistachio soufflé
The pub group's Head of Wine Charles Beaini, who was previously Wine Executive of Kerridge’s Bar & Grill at The Corinthia, has put together quite the wine list including a ‘black book’ of rare bottles.
Tucked into the back streets of Belgravia close to Harrods this sounds like it'll be a handy pitstop for shoppers as well as somewhere useful for locals wanting something a bit more than pub food but not as full-on as nearby Petrus or Zafferano.
