Doing something different in the UK restaurant scene is hard. Breaking into it with what looks like no big backing or tonnes of marketing spend is even harder but one new London restaurant is doing just that (or what appears to be that). BÔNE is a weekend-only, reservations-only restaurant with just 20 seats a night. Their first TikTok went up just six days ago, but garnered 50k views and a slew of bookings off the back of it.
So what exactly is BÔNE? You'll find it on Leonard Street in Shoreditch where it's taken over Bread & Butter Lounge on Friday and Saturday nights. Dinner is a £40 set menu for three courses which is currently:
- Japanese milk bread with French butter
- Grass-fed shortrib or Alaskan salmon with unlimited pommes frites - served with either a Parmesan cream sauce or Paris butter
- Then a choice of four desserts - Brown butter French toast with custard, a chocolate Basque cheesecake, strawberry Tres Leches or pistachio tiramisu.
The menu is entirely halal and they say it's "all about bold, honest flavours made with the best ingredients we can find, from grass-fed meats to sustainably sourced seafood and top-quality dairy".
The chef's name is Nas and frankly that's all we know. Well, that and the fact that it's already booked out until late April. So if you fancy getting in early on what could be one of London's hottest new restaurants, then booking now would be a clever move.
