The slow steady trickle of London restaurant closures appears to be accelerating with a pair of the city's longstanding restaurants announcing their closure this week.
The first was Chelsea restaurant The Five Fields which last night put out a post on Instagram saying "It is with heavy hearts that after more than 12 years we will be closing our doors with the last service this Friday 28th February. We are incredibly grateful to all of our guests for their generous patronage and support over the years, as well as to our dedicated suppliers." The Michelin-starred restaurant has long been a popular spot with its head chef Marguerite featuring on our own Murphia List for many years.
And Hot Dinners can also reveal that another well-known restaurant, the OG Hakkasan on Hanway Place, is also closing on the same day. That marks the end of 24 years for the restaurant which in its heyday was a magnet for celebrities. It's the end of a turbulent few years for the group which lost its Michelin stars for both its London restaurants in last year's guide. But, as Hakkasan pointed out in a statement, "Fortunately, our cherished guests can continue to savour signature dishes - such as our iconic Peking Duck with Caviar — at eleven locations worldwide, including our flagship Mayfair London restaurant near Berkeley Square."
You have a few days left to visit both restaurants, with the last service being on 28 February 2025.
