Hacha moves from Brixton to Bermondsey with their tacos and margaritas

hacha bar opens in bermondsey

Popular agave bar Hacha is on the move. Last week they closed their Brixton bar after three years and have moved across south London to Bermondsey. Their new agaveria is taking over the space that Robin Gill used to run as Bermondsey Larder in the Locke hotel complex, just south of Tower Bridge.

If you didn't manage to catch Hacha in Brixton (or did but are keen to keep on going) they're probably best known for their Mirror Margarita - a totally clear margarita that's won them multiple awards. That'll be served up here alongside new signature cocktails and a brand new agave list. One of their new drinks for the new bar is The Bermondsey Batanga which is made with Tequila or Mezcal, spiced purple carrot cordial, calamansi, Coke Zero, Tobala Mezcal float and Palo Santo smoked salt. So that gives you an idea of the creativity at play here.

As for the food, they're bringing the same kitchen partners they had over in Brixton across to Bermondsey with them. Nopalito will serve a series of snacks like ceviche and chicharons and a range of street tacos including al pastor, crispy birria and beer-battered cod tacos. For dessert, there are churros but we might have to make a trip down there just to try the Carlotta which is described as "layers of buttery Maria cookies soaked in sweetened milk and smooth tequila, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon". Sounds irresistible.
