As one door closes, another opens. And while fans of Forza Win in Camberwell may be reeling from the announcement last week of its imminent closure, the good news is that there's a rather interesting business already lining up to take its place.
Two locals, Jo Lavender and Rob Newlan, are the brains behind hello JoJo and they're all about bringing the feelgood factor to the area. To that end their all day bakery and restaurant is being pitched as a celebration of all things Camberwell.
Things kick off first thing in the morning with the bakery getting to work. They'll serve up a range of fresh bread and pastries to go with the South London-roasted speciality coffee that'll be their signature. As we hit lunchtime the offering will change to salads and pasta dishes and come the evening it'll be about a more refined set of dishes.
Low intervention wines will make up the drinks list alongside local beers and seasonal cocktails and they're also promising plenty of options on the non-alcoholic and soft drink front too.
"After years of austerity and mean-spirited times, we fundamentally believe that using great ingredients and abundant generosity can bring flavour, colour and hope back into our neighbourhood," says Rob. Amen to that.
