Over in Farringdon, what was once a branch of Itsu is getting what we'd definitely consider a glow-up, having been bought by the team behind CERU. They already have two restaurants in West London, in Kensington and Queensway, serving up a Levantine menu.
We presume that the menu here in East London is going to be the same as their other two restaurants, so expect a menu that roams through Turkey through to the Lebanon and over to Cyprus. So there'll be mezze to start, lots of plant-focused options and their much-loved slow roast lamb shoulder. The must-have dish though is in the dessert section, namely Jerome's bird nest featuring fine shredded filo pastry with citrus whipped double cream, lemongrass-infused syrup and chopped pistachios.
It's going to be a decent-sized restaurant with space for almost 60 diners and a standing bar. Brunch is also going to be a big deal with shakshuka, Turkish eggs and a whole range of homemade lemonades on offer.
