Chris Tanner and Edwin Frost, the people behind Dram and Oranj respectively have teamed up for new east London bar Câv (taking over the space that was The Japanese Canteen).
This is planned to be part cocktail bar, part residency. On the drinks side, expect drinks like Tu (Bazo) made with The Lost Explorer mezcal with coconut, pineapple, arbol and sauternes as well as their own house takes on a martini and a cosmo.
As for the food, they're teaming up with chef friends to showcase various cuisines around the world and that kicks off with Tasca, inspired by Portugal and Spain. That's led by Head Chef Josh Dallaway (who has also popped up at Bruno and Oranj) and Sommelier Sinead Murdoch. Dishes on the initial menu include:
- Jambon Beurre Gilda
- Cachorrinho sandwich with pork and prawns, Ossau Iratty cheese, and Piri-Piri oil.
- Cured British Tuna with fried eggs and crispy potato
That'll be backed up by a wine list which specifically showcases female winemakers.
