The team behind other bars like Greenwood in Victoria and Beechwood in Shoreditch is getting ready to open a new sports bar and it's in the most prominent site yet. If you've been around Piccadilly Circus recently, you may have seen the billboards for something new opening at the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Denman Street - that's Blackwood.
The company responsible for all these bars is "Sport London" but it's actually owned by the ETM Group, who also run Aviary rooftop bar, The Botanist, The Jugged Hare and many more. Clearly, this sports bar offshoot is working well for them, as this will be their eighth in London. This bar is set across two levels and, much like the others in the group will have plenty of high-definition screens plastered all over the venue.
As for the food, the menu includes tacos, stonebaked pizzas and big sharing dishes like their meat platter (fried chicken, buffalo wings, burger pizza) or some superfood salads if you're after something on the (slightly) lighter end.
It's definitely something we can see being at home among the bright screens of Piccadilly Circus and given that The Devonshire, just a minute up the road on Denman Street, doesn't have any TV screens, it might find it easy to draw in the punters for big games.
