London is no stranger to interesting cafes in high-end stores - check out our guide to some of the best here. But we'll admit we missed out on the news just before Christmas that another noteworthy spot had opened. The cafe in question is Violet Cakes and it now has a central London location inside Alaïa's flagship store on New Bond Street.
As it's been fifteen years since founder Claire Ptak opened her much-loved bakery in Hackney, this is a pretty big deal for London bakery fans and Claire called it "a dream come true". You'll find the cafe up on the third floor of the store, along with a new bookstore by Claire de Rouen. That makes it a particularly nice place to peruse the fashion and photography titles with a great cup of coffee and a cake.
And if you're not East London-based (where her original cafe is), this new opening is a much more convenient spot to go for one of Claire's rhubarb or coffee cupcakes.
