Seemingly not happy with having two restaurants in the nearby Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, chef Akira Back already has another hotel restaurant lined up, barely 15 minutes walk away.
This time it's in the revamped The Montcalm hotel in Mayfair, now renamed Montcalm Mayfair and reopening sometime in spring.
The restaurant is called Lilli by Akira Back which they say will offer "exceptional dining and bar experiences" and "British cuisine alongside Chef Akira’s signature dishes" (he normally focuses on a mix of Japanese and Korean cuisine). So at this stage, there's not too much to go on. How similar it will be to chef's offering in the MO Mayfair remains to be seen as we'd expect both hotels (particularly the former) would want to show a clear difference between the two restaurants.
