Krept & Konan are opening Saveways supermarket in Croydon

Rap duo Krept and Konan are diversifying their brand, getting into the supermarket business for the first time. More specifically they're opening a huge store in Croydon called Saveways which they say will celebrate "cultural diversity through food while setting a new standard for halal and world food retailing in the UK."

It's a genius business idea too, catering for the area's diverse community which they estimate to include over 250,000 residents of Black, Asian and mixed ethnicities. To that end, the store is going to sell a range of halal and world foods. There will be a fresh halal meat and poultry counter, a bakery and a product list that includes fresh and frozen exotic fish and tinned, chilled and frozen produce from around the world.

To make the dream happen they've teamed up with restaurateur Kaysor Ali who runs the halal restaurant group Steakout and Smacks Hamburgers. "Together, we’ve combined our skills, networks, and passion to create a supermarket experience that not only serves the community but sets a new standard for quality, inclusivity, and excellence in the UK food retail space," says Ali, adding that Saveways was "more than just a supermarket, it’s a statement of culture, unity, and progress for our communities."

Burger fans should take note that among the various items that'll be on sale will be the amazing Martin’s Potato Rolls that are used by Jupiter Burgers and Shake Shack. They'll also sell Elephant Atta flour (perfect for flatbreads) and speciality seafood from Ibco.
