Duck and Rice is opening a new place in Battersea on its tenth anniversary

Duck and Rice is opening in Battersea on its tenth anniversary

It's been almost 10 years since Alan Yau took over a Soho pub and transformed it into Duck and Rice. A decade on, it seems it's time to expand as it's the latest place to find itself making its way to Battersea Power Station with a new location.

If you're unfamiliar with the Soho original, they describe themselves as a "Soho pub with a world-class Chinese kitchen". As for the Battersea version, that's being described as a "British pub and chop suey kitchen" opening in a space apparently dubbed "riverside neighbourhood". You'll find it up on the same level as the Control Room B bar.

This new pub seems a little bigger than the Soho original, seating around 185. According to architects Macaulay Sinclair, it's taking its design from "the aesthetic and style of the Cha Chaan Teng and tea houses of South China." So, it does seem like this is going to diverge a little from the built-in old-school pubbiness of the Soho version.

As for the food, exact details are yet to be revealed, but we'll add them as soon as we get them. We'd say to expect something at least a little similar to the original and you can at least assume the Cantonese roast duck served with jasmine rice is going to make an appearance.
