In today's febrile restaurant scene, most restaurateurs would be congratulating themselves for having successfully reached the end of one year. So it's properly impressive for anyone to reach the half-century mark. That's the anniversary that chef, restaurateur and TV personality Rick Stein is celebrating this year, having opened his first seafood restaurant in Padstow back in 1975.
As part of those celebrations, he's going to be rolling back the menu prices at a few of his restaurants to 1975 for four days, including his restaurant by the river in Barnes. That means you can try shellfish soup for 50p, grilled lobster for £2.80 and seafood thermidor for a bargainous £2.20.
They will only be releasing a handful of tables each lunchtime for the special promo, so securing that booking is going to be hard. Bookings go live at 10am on Friday 24 January. So put it in your diary!
