Islington's run of interesting openings continues this year with the arrival of Leigh's in De Beauvoir. The duo behind it are Cordon Bleu-trained chefs Melanie Clarke and McKenzie Amaral who have taken over the cafe area at co-working space One and a Half, just across the road from the popular pub The Scolt Head.
It's a daytime-only space, serving up coffee, toasties, soups and bakes. Expect to find a regularly changing menu of Poilâne toasties, a rotating homemade soup - think cavalo nero with white bean - and cheese and meats from La Fromagerie and Cobble Lane Cured.
If you're interested in the sweeter side of things (and who isn't?) they're promising treats like Salted Chai Caramel Slice, Blood Orange Cake and Guinness Cake. Coffee will be courtesy of Formative Coffee. So if you're in the area and looking for a something new for lunch or coffee - this is one to bear in mind.
