Amid all the festive craziness pre-Christmas, a new wine bar opened its doors for the first time in E10. Swirl is a new bar that sees three local entrepreneurs joining forces. Arch Deli owner Michaela Zelenaska has teamed up with Pandemonium Wines founders Viliam and Prianka for the new wine bar in one of Tilbury Road's railway arches.
It sounds like they're bringing something genuinely new to London's burgeoning wine bar scene with a list informed by Pandemonium's portfolio of Czech and Slovak wines. Lots of those will be offered by the glass and - here's the best bit - they're promising to bring "city-quality wines to Leyton at neighbourhood-friendly prices."
Swirl also sounds like it'll be a place to go even if you're not drinking with plenty to entice you. As Prianka explains: "we're curating an equally thoughtful selection of alcohol-free and low-ABV alternatives that deliver the same complexity and enjoyment as their traditional counterparts."
As for the food side of things, the kitchen space will feature residencies by local chefs and pop-ups. Right now it's a mix of snackage with options including a Neal's Yard cheese toastie and various cheese and meat platters.
