They're as sure a sign of an area's gentrification as the arrival of a Waitrose or M&S Food store and now the bakery behemoths that are Gail's are expanding to the city's train stations. Last week they opened their first branch in a travel hub, at St Pancras. And they're following that up by opening this week at London Bridge.
Gail's St Pancras is already open and Gail's London Bridge opens on 20 December 2024. Both sound like they've been designed to look quite different to their other 'village' bakeries. The St Pancras branch has been described as a "cross between a business lounge and a bakery" with a creative nod to New York's Grand Central Station.
The London Bridge bakery is in the Western Arcade that links the main train station to the underground.
Both will be handy if you're looking to grab a decent loaf of bread on your way home, or a cinnamon bun on your way to work.
