A Hot Dinners exclusive
Lebanese restaurant Aline was originally opened by Tarek Farah and his wife Monika back in 2016 and over eight years, it built a loyal clientele for its traditional Lebanese dishes. Now, three doors down from Aline, the pair are about to kick things up a notch with a more contemporary offering - the new Lebanese rotisserie Toum.
Toum, they told Hot Dinners, "is more of a modern take on Lebanese cuisine with some French and Mediterranean influences too". Rotisserie chicken is at the heart of the menu. It's given a special house brine and marinade before being roasted on the rotisserie. You then get to choose if you want it with the traditional Lebanese garlic sauce toum, chicken jus, Cafe de Paris butter or chimichurri sauce.
The rest of the menu is a mix of small and large dishes including:
- Samke Harra - sea bass with spicy walnut, coriander and tahini
- Octopus with green hummus and shallots
- Sauteed chicken livers with pomegranate mollases and pine nuts
Oh, and we're 100% going to want to try the knafeh soft serve with orange blossom and pistachios.
The fun continues downstairs where they're got a rather beautiful-looking listening bar called Encore. Drinks sound just as interesting as Tarek has brought in top Lebanese mixologist Jad Ballout, who has had multiple bars in the World's Best Bars list, to run the cocktail list. They've also got a heated terrace out on Pollen Street, so watch out for that.
