Sipping a glass of rosé on a sun-soaked terrace with glorious views over Tower Bridge may feel like a pipe dream when London's temperature is currently in single figures but that's the goal when new wine bar Luna opens on Shad Thames next year. The wine bar is the latest opening from the same team behind nearby Legare, restaurateur Jay Patel and chef Matt Beardmore.
The bar sounds like it'll be a cosy space, with room for 28 to sit inside and a further six to eight on that terrace outside. And this is going to be a wine bar that serves food too - think 10 Cases or the Winemaker's Club. As its name alludes to, this is a bar celebrating biodynamic wines (lunar cycles play a key role in biodynamic winemaking.
You'll find Luna right beside Le Pont de la Tour. The walls will be covered by wooden panelling and the space will be lit by candles so it sounds like just the place for setting the world to rights over a good glass of wine. Speaking of wine, this is less of a temple to all things natty and more a place which mixes great classic producers with those who use ethical farming practices. On the books are producers like Burgundy winemaker Athénaïs de Béru (we tried some of her astounding wine recently at Fantomas and were blown away by it).
As for the food goes, we're told that Matt’s still working on the launch menu but to give you an idea it might include freshly shucked oysters, crudos and carpaccios sliced to order and French fries.
