If the enticing cakes and pastries at Quince Bakery weren't enough to prompt a visit, the arrival of a new wine bar residency at the bakery is a further reason to go. Basket Press Wines is an importer of low-intervention wines and ciders from Central and Eastern Europe. Run by husband and wife team Jiri Majerik and Zainab Majeriková, they're now popping up every weekend at Quince.
Zainab used to be head sommelier at Pollen Street Social and Jiri the bar manager at Blixen and Village East, so they both know a thing or two about working in hospitality. At Quince, they'll be serving up "a super intriguing wine offering" to go alongside snacks by Quince's owner and baker Anna Higham. She, in turn, will be supplying galettes, plates of cheese and charcuterie and even bowls of rice pudding.
“We were thrilled when Zainab and Jiri approached us to take over our space in the evenings," Anna says. "Their wines are completely delicious and their approach matches our own. We can’t wait to see the community that we have built around Quince to get to enjoy an evening with BP wines and our snacks sitting around the communal tables.”
