New figures have just reported a total of 4,780 rough sleepers in London, the highest it’s ever been. But the good news is that London foodies can play their part in changing this. Restaurant goers can support the homeless this winter by dining out at a restaurant taking part in StreetSmart and adding a £1 donation to your bill.
Across London, restaurants are getting involved from hot new openings like Julie's and Akira Back, to Sam's Waterside in Brentford, Cloth in Farringdon and Roe in Canary Wharf.
Last year the charity raised a record-breaking million pounds and was able to fund multiple homeless projects across the city, providing food, housing and mental health support to those who need it the most.
As restaurateur Zoe Paskin from The Barbary and The Palomar says; "At a time of year when we should be thinking of others most, StreetSmart helps us create positive and real change for those less fortunate. StreetSmart’s festive initiative has become a vital moment in the restaurant calendar, which is testament to its impact on people’s lives on our very doorstep, and we’re proud to be one of the many restaurants supporting this brilliant cause."
