Wilton Way Deli and Wines has built up a strong following in Hackney and now owner Francesca D’Agostino is getting ready to expand with a second opening - but not too far away. She's going as far as the corner of Wilton Road to open Fran's.
She describes Fran's as an "all-day caff" open from breakfast to the evening, "inspired by the old-style Italian/British cafes that are disappearing" with a focus on comfort food.
That means things kick off at the start of the day with their "Almost all-day breakfast" (you can order this until 3pm). You can get a full English (and vegetarian version) or scale it down to a mini version, as well as a sausage egg and cheese muffin. Lunch adds jacket potatoes, soup, a club sandwich and cheese toasties, while the evening menu includes:
- Pasta dishes, including tagliatelle al ragu and spinach & ricotta canneloni
- Pies (like a chicken leek & potato) or sausage and mash
- Meatballs scarpetta (or vegan version)
- Marscapone and warm chocolate brioche to finish
On top of the food, they also have a space for Sweet Pea florist, and they'll be renting out space for workshops downstairs. Given how busy Wilton Way Deli and Wines always is, expect this to be a big success with locals.
