1/4/25 - updated with more details and the opening date.
Last year, chef Claude Bosi, together with his wife Lucy, opened French bouchon Josephine in Chelsea to rave reviews. It was, however, for those of us who don't live in West London, not blessed with the easiest public transport connections.
We'd been hearing rumblings for a while that the chef was planning a follow-up in a much more central location, and finally they have confirmed that a Marylebone opening is imminent.
Bosi's taking over the space that was Daylesford Organic, a pretty large space on Blandford Street. Once again, this restaurant will have a strong focus on French cooking, although while the original Chelsea opening had a Lyonnaise focus, this one will have more of an eye on "19th-century Parisian brasserie culture". The food will apparently be based on the brasseries Bosi visited while working in Paris for Alain Ducasse and Alain Passard. The menu here will include:
- Soufflé au Camembert (a shift from the excellent Saint-Félicien cheese souffle in Chelsea)
- A big fruits de mer focus, including oysters, homard mayonnaise, langoustines and crevettes rose
- Classic dishes like terrine de Foie gras and steak tartare
- Plus mains like filet de bœuf and poulet aux morilles
The Rhum Baba sliced at the table from the original Josephine will be available here too, along with a Soufflé Glacé au Grand Marnier and a great French cheese selection.
They'll also be adding a breakfast menu to this location. So for your petit dejeuner, you can go light with bircher muesli served with apple and pomegranate or a little more indulgent with scrambled eggs and black truffle. That will be alongside freshly baked baguettes, of course.
This new location has space for a terrace outside (seating 16) while the design inside will be inspired by classic French brasseries and bistros. So if you still haven't made it to Josephine in Chelsea, this new location is going to be a must-visit.
