They've already conquered London's sandwich scene and now the team behind Dom's Subs are onto something new - burgers. They're launching a new burger shack in Netil Market called Jupiter Burger.
The plan for the new shack is to serve up California-inspired beef and veggie burgers as well as fries, sodas and beers (with the aim to serve up shakes too). As they describe it, Jupiter Burger is "more In-n-Out than MEATLiquor".
We caught up with Greg Boyce from Dom's Subs to find out more, learning that the inspiration for Jupiter Burger sprang from a visit he made to LA last year. "I loved that there were fast, easy and great places to grab a high-quality but inexpensive burger in every neighbourhood. Burger culture in the city runs deep and I know that London is having a bit of a smash burger moment but I think there's just so much more to do in the Burgersphere. Also, if you think of a hamburger as a type of sandwich, it's not so far-fetched that [Dom's Subs] would move into the burger world."
Here's a taste of the draft opening menu (this may change a little in the run-up):
- Jupiter Burger (lightly smashed beef burger with shaved onion on a Martins potato roll with mustard, ketchup, pickles, onion, tomato + lettuce)
- House Veggie Burger (house-made vegetarian patty with shaved onion on a Martins potato roll with mustard, ketchup, pickles, onion, tomato + lettuce)
- Fries
- Jupiter Soda (a non-alcoholic seasonal changing selection)
- 5 Points JUPA Beer
As for the shack itself, they've taken over what used to be Lucky Chip's space. "it's a bit space age, a bit Googie (futurist US architecture from around the 50s and 60s). If you squint a bit, it looks like it's been beamed into London Fields from 1960s LA. It's perfect!"
London loves a smash burger right now and we can see this take, particularly with the pedigree behind it, being extremely popular. Maybe get in the queue now...
