South West London wine lovers who are looking for a nice bar and bottle shop in their neighbourhood should make a note of the arrival of the Vining Street Wine Club in Brixton. It's the latest opening from the same team as the Crystal Palace Wine Club, who say they're "committed to breaking down the pretentiousness of the wine industry". Their slogan actually is "Wine without the bullshit".
To that end, they'll be serving up a regularly changing list of 15+ wines by the glass, with plenty to entice those who like their wines either from the classic mould, or more along natural lines. And with glasses of wine starting at £7 there's plenty to entice you through the door. Regular wine tasting events are planned and from now to the end of the year they have a Halloween event, Beaujolais Nouveau party, and a Christmas Mega Tasting in the works.
The weather right now might not lend itself to alfresco drinking so much, but it is useful to note that the new bar also boasts a secret wine garden at the back, which is going to be great for the summer.
