Boxcar Bread & Wine is a new bakery by day, wine bar at night for Connaught Village

Boxcar Bread & Wine is coming to Marylebone's Connaught Village

If there are two things Londoners are obsessed with right now, it's bakeries and wine bars. So the arrival of Boxcar Bread & Wine is going to be a boon for the well-heeled denizens of Connaught Village as it's a neat combo of both. It comes from the same team behind Boxcar Bar and Grill and Boxcar Baker & Deli in Marylebone.

This new neighbourhood spot, taking over an old Le Pain Quotidien site, will have a different daytime and evening focus, just as its name suggests. From breakfast, things will kick off with their pastries.  But not just any pastries. Head Chef Zisis Gkalmpenis has come up with delights including a cinnamon rice pudding danish with roasted plums, orange blossom brioche and matcha croissants. Savoury options include a nduja lamb roll topped with Lincolnshire cheese, and a kimchi and cheddar pan swiss.

Heading into lunchtime, they'll add sandwiches and salads, while into the evening the place transforms into a wine bar, with a new menu of small plates and sharing dishes. So you'll find things like aged Hereford ribeye with red onion and anchovy butter and a pan-roasted Cornish sea bass with fennel and lemon on offer.

Lots of interesting new pastries and a new wine bar sounds like a good thing to us.
