Hausu listening bar settles down in Peckham

Hausu listening bar settles down in Peckham

Listening bars are very much a thing at the moment. Recently we've had Goodbye Horses in Islington and the upcoming nearby Godet will also have a big focus on its Hi-fi. Heading over to the other side of London, we've had Jazu in Deptford and now we've got another newcomer, this time to Peckham.

Until now, Hausu have been in their pop-up phase, but they're getting ready to settle down in a permanent spot, taking over the space that was once Coal Rooms. They've popped up there in the past so the space will be very familiar to them.

The kitchen is led by head chef Holly Joseph, previously at Frank's and The Camberwell Arms, with a menu described as "small plates centred around fresh produce". Here's a taste of what that menu looks like:

  • Scallop and prawn toast
  • Squid ink noodles, agretti
  • Tomatoes, confit garlic and shiso
  • Kohlrabi cake with wild mushrooms
  • Plus specials of fish (with seaweed and roe) and steak (with crispy garlic, lemon and chilli).

Alsongside the food there'll obviously be wines and cocktails and plenty of music, of course. It was a shame to see Coal Rooms go, but it looks like Hausu will be an interesting successor.
