The last year or so has been a whirlwind ride for the team at Jazu. Having first popped up in Camberwell and Market Peckham with their day-to-night listening bar, this summer saw them opening a permanent spot on Deptford's High Street. Now that they've had several months to bed into their new home, they're about to launch their kitchen.
Running the food here will be Jazu co-founder Jimmy whose CV includes time at the Michelin-starred Neptune in Norfolk as well as London hotspots Elliot's, Lardo and Crispin. At Jazu he'll be serving up an evening menu consisting of small plates, alongside a brunch menu on the weekends.
Taking inspiration from what's on the cocktail list, the launch evening menu consists of dishes like:
- Smoked cod’s roe with courgette fritti
- Beef tartare, beer mustard and beef fat focaccia
- Pan Fried rare breed pork chop with homemade jerk sauce and smacked cucumbers
- Native breed beef burger with dry-aged short-rib and chuck patties, lyonnaise onions, Emmental cheese, house-brined tomatoes and served on a milk bun from Ong Ong Buns.
Brunch sounds equally appealing with crispy pork fat hash browns and French toast with bourbon caramel sounding like must-haves.
