The London Shell Co are closing both their boats

london shell co is closing the prince regent

Well this is a sad story to be sharing with you on a Monday morning. It wasn't that long ago that we enjoyed a fabulous day cruising down the Regent's Canal on the canal boat restaurant The Prince Regent. But all good things must come to an end and over the weekend the London Shell Co announced that they are bidding adieu to both their floating restaurants at Paddington.

"For almost 9 years we've floated, sailed and served," they said, in an email to their followers. "Feasting on the water. Substantial increases in maintenance and overhead costs combined with turbulent trading conditions have made this decision inevitable. We can't change the wind, but we can adjust the sails."

The Grand Duchess - the boat that didn't move - has already closed. But if you haven't yet dined on the Prince Regent which sails between Paddington and Camden, you have a few weeks left to do that.

As for the restaurant group, they say they're going to "focus our attention on our Swain's Lane fishmonger site and landlubber activities. Swain's Lane continues to go from strength to strength and we're looking forward to developing this concept and seeing where the next adventure takes us."
