They must be pouring out the Champagne with breakfast this morning at The Savoy, celebrating the news that the hotel's high-end restaurant Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay was the only London establishment to be raised to four rosettes status by the AA this year. It's a big deal to get to this level. There are only nine other London restaurants with four rosettes, and one of those is another Ramsay restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.
The restaurant's executive head chef James Sharp said: "Since opening in 2022, it has been our mission to bring guests of Restaurant 1890 a totally unique experience, and the blend of seasonally exciting ingredients, a creative culinary team like no other and seamless collaboration with Gordon has made this a reality."
The news was announced at the annual AA Hospitality Awards held last night at Grosvenor House. Other London restaurants celebrating were The Silver Birch in Chiswick which was picked as Restaurant of the year (London) and HUMO in Mayfair which was awarded three rosettes. It was good news too for London hotels. The Dorchester got Hotel of the year (London) and 1 Hotel Mayfair picked up the Sustainable Award.
One other person who had a good night was chef Tom Aikens. He was picked as the Chefs’ Chef of the Year, an award which means a lot as it's the only one voted on by all the other chefs of AA rosette restaurants.
