One of the founders of Coco di Mama, Daniel Land, is getting ready to bring a combo bakery/restaurant Don't Tell Dad to Queen's Park. Opening on Lonsdale Road, the strip of Queens Park where you'll find its best restaurants and bars, it'll be a bakery in the day and shift to a restaurant in the evening.
Taking the bakery first, that'll be run by Head Baker Keren Sternberg (previously Head Baker at Layla). There, expect breads and pastries that include a hazelnut brown butter croissant and honey-poached quince, crème fraîche and pistachio Danish (as well as savoury danishes).
The restaurant will open from lunch, and that will be run by Head Chef Luke Frankie (prevously Noble Rot, Forza Wine and Spring). His menu will include:
- Crab tart with crab oil mayonnaise and watercress
- Roast pumpkin with brown butter, hazelnut and crispy sage
- Spiced mallard with celeriac and Swiss chard
As for the name? Don't Tell Dad is a tribute to Daniel’s late sister, Lesley, with the name being a reference to "a phrase whispered between mischievous siblings".
