I think we can safely say that anyone opening a Basque cheesecake shop in London right now is on to a good thing. Certainly, that was the experience of La Maritxu which went down a storm with its original cake shop in Connaught Village. Within days there were queues down the road and a slew of videos on TikTok rhapsodising about it.
Now the three Spanish sisters behind this one dish wonder are bringing it to Soho. Their second shop will be in the heart of Carnaby on Kingly Street.
If you haven't already been over to Connaught Village for a slice at the original place then you just need to know that this is the kind of baked cheesecake that everyone loves to try when they head to San Sebastian. It's sold by the slice or as a whole cheesecake to take away and share (although we wouldn't judge you if you didn't).
Either way, expect to see some more queues on Kingly Street soon.
