Looking for somewhere new to get your spicy fried chicken fix? With cocktails too? Then head East London way, as Dang’s is taking up a prime position in a basement bar below Slurp Noodles in Spitalfields.
Accessed either via Slurp or from its own entrance down the side of the building, Dang’s is all about Thai fried chicken, aka Hat Yai chicken (a nod to the southern Thai city where it originates). It's one of the most popular dishes in Thailand, with its fiery, aromatic spicing and thin crispy coating.
Dang’s menu comprises a choice of wings (choose from Larb or Zaab coatings) or whole marinated chickens for sharing, alongside dipping sauces (sriracha, tamarind, sweet chilli) and bowls of sticky white rice. You can expect the following:
- Railway Chicken: red, slightly caramelised grilled chicken
- Hat Yai Chicken: marinated in garlic, fish sauce, coriander and pepper, deep-fried and topped with crispy shallots
- Classic Thai salads: Tum Tang (spicy cucumber with fish sauce), Som Tum (papaya), Yum Salmon (spicy raw salmon), Yum Mamo Moo (spicy with instant noodles and minced pork) or Yum Moo Yor (spicy with sausage)
To wash it all down, there’ll be Singha and Tiger beers, wines, sake, soju and Thai-inspired cocktails, such as the Tom Yum (Makrut lime, chilli vodka, galangal, tomato, lemongrass, lime noodles) and Honey Thai Tea (Phraya rum, Thai tea, honey, condensed milk).
