Yari Club lets the robots do the yakitori cooking

Yari Club lets the robots do the yakitori cooking

Updated 9/10/24 with revised opening date

What's the next step for yakitori restaurants? Getting the robots in, of course. That's what Yari Club has planned for St Martin's Lane.

The new restaurant needs a little help from those pesky humans though. Once an order is placed, the staff will load a machine with the skewers, then the robot takes over. Over five minutes, it will apparently grab the yakitori, grill it, and then dip it in sauce. They're putting this machine at the front of the restaurant so if you happen to be wandering by, you'll get a full view of the contraption in action.

As for what will actually be available, expect a range of eight chicken yakitori dishes which include tsukune (meatball) and Negima (thigh and spring onion) as well as prawn tempura. They'll also have extra human-cooked creations like chicken karaage which are, alas, beyond the capabilities of the robot.

Expect this one to appear on many a social feed when it opens.
