We'll confess we had no idea that Matt Lovell and Rob Hampton - the duo better known as The Oystermen - had opened a wine bar called Bedford Street Wines in Covent Garden a few years back. But you live and learn and now the pair are at it again. They're just about to launch a pop-up wine bar and bottle shop, Monmouth Street Wines, in Covent Garden's Seven Dials.
They've taken over the corner site at the intersection of Monmouth and Neal streets that's housed a number of restaurants over the past few years including The Bowler, On the Dak and, most recently, Fafa's.
Here they'll be selling and serving wines so you can either grab a bottle to-go or sit down at one of the tables and enjoy a glass or two as you watch the world go by.
Following the same ethos as their first bar, the pop-up's offering will focus on wines from small producers and family-run vineyards along with beers from craft breweries. It also sounds like it'll be the place to get a bargain drink if you head there during their happy hour when there will be 2-for-1 on glasses of champagne and sparkling wines from their by-the-glass menu. They'll also be offering free corkage on Mondays and Tuesdays.
