As part of £5m spent on its restoration, Abney Park in Stoke Newington now has a modern new cafe. The pair behind it are Hackney locals Toby Williams and Lianna Jewell, a husband and wife team. They also run local catering company Sabel Food which has worked on festival food for Lost Village and Wilderness as well as doing events like a birthday bash for Ottolenghi and TV and film shoots.
The cafe they say will serve up "ingredient-led, taste-focused menus". It's going to be open for breakfast, brunch and lunch every day and on the menu, you might find:
- Sausage, cheddar and caramelized onion toastie, Sabel brown sauce
- Salad of tomatoes, pickled mussels, brown crab mayonnaise and fennel
- Galette of grilled aubergines, goat’s curd and smoked almonds
They're also going to be serving up sandwiches, pastries, cakes and buns which sound great. Early examples have included rosemary brown butter cakes as well as goat's curd, slow-roast fennel and tapenade sarnies.
In addition to the cafe space, they're also running a garden events space here which you can hire out.
