It's been two years since she lifted the trophy in the 2022 final of MasterChef The Professionals. Now chef Nikita Pathakji is celebrating her first Head Chef role, heading up the kitchen at East London gastropub The Princess of Shoreditch. It's the culmination of a journey that's seen the talented chef work at top London restaurants including Bibendum and Kitchen W8. When she won MasterChef The Professionals she was only the second woman to do so, and the first in 10 years.
"Nikita and The Princess kitchen team have been working exceptionally hard on curating a new menu in her signature style," a release from the pub said, "combining classical technique with exciting global flavours, and the best local produce."
In practice that means dishes like:
- Rima’s chaat, tamarind chutney, yoghurt, sev
- Octopus, charred hispi cabbage, tako yaki sauce, doughnut
- Iberico pork chop, sweetcorn chevdo, green chutney, curry leaves
You'll also be able to try an updated version of one of the dishes that won Nikita the MasterChef trophy which is served here as cured Sea bream served with coal-smoked aubergine, harissa and preserved lemon.
