Leeds bakery Get Baked makes a cake so viral that mere minutes after sales go live on their website every slice is gone in a flash. Now, Get Baked by Rich Myers is coming to London.
Best known for its Bruce cake - a towering 24-layered chocolate cake - the London pop-up will showcase the creation of Bruce's successor, the Bertha which is exactly the same except for one detail, the ganache will be a mix of milk and dark chocolate, rather than all-dark. If you want to buy a whole cake it'll set you back a whopping £160. Even a slice is going to cost you £17.
Get Baked are also famous for their pies and there's also going to be a brand new offering for London, paying homage to Fortnum's famous knickerbocker glories. The Knickerbocker Glory Pie will feature all-butter shortcrust baked with raspberry jam and vanilla cake, topped with vanilla and raspberry ganache, and finished with vanilla buttercream, chopped hazelnuts and a glacé cherry.
The store is expecting the popup at its patisserie counter to be a big deal, so they'll be issuing early entry tickets for fans to get into the store an hour before it opens at 10am.
In a post on Instagram, owner Rich praised the London store for being bold enough to invite them down. "They’re fully aware of the brand, how we handle socials, and our tone of voice etc. and whether it’s knowingly or unknowingly, they’ve shown that they’re willing to work alongside a dishevelled brand from up north. I feel like the north of England doesn’t get enough credit for what it brings to the table, and it’ll be nice for really posh people in London to feel the warm embrace of a Leeds cuddle."
"There will however be no cuddles," he added.
