Chef James Cochran announces he's closing his Islington restaurant 12:51

1251 restaurant is closing in Islington

A Hot Dinners exclusive

The slew of London restaurant closures continues with the news today that the much-loved Islington restaurant 12:51 will have its final service next month.

Owner chef James Cochran says: "After almost 7 years, I have decided it’s the end of a chapter for me, and have decided to close 12:51 at the end of August."

It's a sad ending to the restaurant that opened to critical acclaim, offering something really different to the London dining scene. We loved our dinner there, trying what James described as Michelin-level dining in a relaxed environment.

As James explains: "I opened 12:51, fresh off my win on Great British Menu, looking to share my ethos that anyone could enjoy fine dining, classical cooking techniques without the stuffiness. Seeing that realised has been a dream.

"We have had countless guests come through our doors, and it’s been an honour to serve every one of them, as well as serve alongside every staff member who has made 12:51 possible over the years."

Fans of James's food have the rest of this month to make one last booking there. As James says; "Come join us for a final time for our tasting menu, a final epic roast, a final round of watermelon margs, or an extra side of my fried chicken. We look forward to serving you one last time."
