On a time when all eyes are on Paris for the Olympics, one French burger company is making its way over to the UK. Junk is getting ready to open a burger bar in Soho (where Wonderland was briefly).
It's not the first French burger brand to try and make a go of it in London, of course. Big Fernand had a few sites around London and are still serving up their French burgers in South Kensington. Junk, meanwhile, has opened across France in Paris, Lyon, Lille, Bordeaux and more, and they're all about the current burger trend - smash burgers.
You can go for something on the small side with just one patty or open yourself up to the inevitable meat sweats and a disapproving look from your doctor with a five-patty XXL burger. As for the types of burgers, there's a cheeseburger, a truffle-double cheeseburger and a crispy veggie version, all in brioche buns.
Their desserts are by another French brand Puffy (which happens to be owned by the same group). Those look like big chewy chocolate chip cookies, a little similar to something you might get at Creme.
Smash burgers are clearly having a moment right now, so we'll have to see if Junk can compete with London's best.
