Albers opens in De Beauvoir with small plates and negronis for a fiver

News reaches us of another promising new opening that's flown under our radar until now. Albers has opened in De Beauvoir, an area that's getting very interesting at the moment (including the imminent arrival of Goodbye Horses).

Set up by chefs who have a background in Big Jo and Noble Rot, it's open as a cafe most days but also as a small plates/wine affair from Thursday to Saturday in the evening. In the mornings, there are sausage and egg butties alongside pastries. Lunch adds dishes like ragu on toast, a pork bap or a pork, fennel and apricot pie. The evening brings in a few more larger plates, including:

  • Tomato, ricotta and chard cannelloni
  • Pollock, white beans and nduja fried bread
  • Lamb, courgettes and potatoes

They'll also have a Pump Street chocolate mousse which is handy as the Pump Street London office happens to be next door (and thanks to them for the heads-up on Albers). As for drinks, we think the negronis for a fiver are going the be the main thing, but there's also a short wine list which starts at a relatively decent £28.

And in case you're wondering about that name - it's called Albers after their dog so yes, it is a dog-friendly space.
