Just over a year since Birley Bakery opened its doors on Chelsea Green the same team have now opened a chocolate shop and cafe on the same street. Birley Chocolate is ostensibly, as the name would suggest, a chocolate shop. But the new space has a proper cafe space at the rear of the store where they're going to be serving breakfast and lunch.
On the menu there'll be overnight oats and croque madame croissants for breakfast moving to toasted sandwiches and quiches along with salads and soups at lunchtime. Dishes on that lunchtime menu include:
- Courgette, pea, mint & barley salad
- Crab melt with salad
- Tomato gazpacho & sourdough toast
There's also going to be an ice cream window if you want to grab a cone to go in the summer or a waffle in the winter.
It's a bit of a throwback too, as the new opening sees the building reverting to its original use. Back in the day, this used to be the Jane Asher cake shop and cafe.
