In the run up to Independence Day bookings at Philadelphia-inspired restaurant Passyunk Avenue are always going to be busy. But we reckon that over the coming weeks there's going to be another reason for the micro-chain's popularity. The restaurant's signature Philly Cheesesteak and beer just got an almighty shout out in New Heights - the hugely popular podcast by Travis Kelce (yes, Taylor Swift's beau) and his brother Jason.
Jason and Travis popped into Passyunk's Fitzrovia restaurant for a few hours, while they were in town to watch Taylor Swift at Wembley Stadium, to film the London episode of their show. And manager Jessi was on hand to make sure the brothers tried some of the restaurant's most popular offerings.
"I feel like I'm in Philadelphia. This is so good," says Jason. "This is a good cheesesteak," agrees Travis who admits it's his third one of the day, "it's awesome."
Both brothers are also surprised to learn that the sandwich's essential cheeze-wiz had to be homemade as EU food regulations mean that it can't be imported into the UK. They also got to try beer made specially for Passyunk by Sambrooks Brewery in Wandsworth.
"They were lovely," Passyunk's MD Daniel told Hot Dinners. "So down to earth. And they stayed to chat and sign autographs afterwards with people who recognised them."
