Its pistachio-green and white-striped decor is instantly synonymous with cosy chic and extraordinary pasta, and now Lina Stores is bringing its eye-pleasing vibe to Shoreditch.
If you’ve somehow missed the proliferation of Lina Stores (there’s even one in Japan), this latest venture follows their seventh London venue opening in South Kensington in March.
You'll find Lina Stores Shoreditch in a sensitively renovated Grade-II-listed former bank building and the basement here will house another Bar Lina (the first Bar Lina opened for aperitivo below the original 1944 Soho Lina Stores Brewer St location in late 2023). Expect a blend of architectural styles, with Lina’s contemporary marble-top tables and plush banquettes melding with the historic building’s preserved timber-and-mosaic flooring and some original walls.
There’ll also be a private dining room (seating 12) discreetly tucked behind vintage timber panels beneath an original skylight window. Nursing a Negroni while perched at the Formica bar with a view of the chefs is also a fine idea.
Foodwise, things will be reassuringly as per the other popular Lina Stores, with Italian-inspired menus ranging from a sweet/savoury breakfast through to dinner, but with some exciting new additions to the secondi menu, such as luganega sausage with spring greens, chilli and garlic or grilled hispi cabbage with porcini butter, pine nuts, Grana Padano and black truffle. Here’s a sample from the menu:
- Truffle scrambled eggs with toasted sourdough
- Tuscan sausage and fried-egg panino
- Spaghetti alla Chitarra with Amalfi lemon and pink peppercorns
- Spinach and ricotta tre latte gnudi
- Tiramisu, plus homemade ice-creams/sorbets (Campari, grapefruit, extra-virgin olive oil)
Bar Lina, accessed via a separate entrance, will channel a 1970s-Italy atmosphere and seat 52 guests in what was once the bank’s back of house. What better spot to plot your next getaway than from in the original vault (a semi-private lounge seating 12), while furtively sipping on an organic and biodynamic Italian wine?
