Anya Hindmarch's Ice Cream Project is back with baked beans, Jaffa Cake, peanut butter and vinegar flavours

Anya Hindmarch's Ice Cream Project is back with baked bean, Jaffa Cake, peanut butter and vinegar flavours

For its third year, The Ice Cream Project by Anya Hindmarch is back. If you're unfamiliar with this slightly mad endeavour, it's an ice cream shop that focuses on some very unusual flavours. As ever, they're well-known brands, but definitely not something you'll find in the average ice cream.

This year, there are returning flavours like the Heinz baked beans ice cream or the Kikkoman soy sauce version. There's also the return of Branston piccalilli and Maldon sea salt,  but there are a whole host of new flavours coming your way.

The new ice creams, going in the order of "fairly normal" to "crazy" are:

  • Bird’s Custard
  • Kenco Coffee
  • McVitie’s Penguin - Milk chocolate blended with crunchy Penguin pieces
  • McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes - Chocolate stirred with chocolate-orange Jaffa Cake
  • Robinson’s Lemon Barley Water sorbet
  • Tiptree Orange Marmalade - with the tang of thick cut Seville orange peel
  • Tropicana Orange Juice sorbet
  • Sarson’s Vinegar - Strawberries with a splash of Sarson’s Malt vinegar
  • Sun-Pat Peanut Butter - stirred with crunchy peanut butter
  • Perello olives - flavoured with sliced Gordal olives
  • Filippo Berio Pesto - Blended with the nutty, fragrant classic pesto with Italian basil

They'll be available in tubs (£16) or scoops (£4.50) and the shop will be introducing some special Anya Hundmarch T-Shirts this year. There's also a blind tasting ice cream tea where you'll try several flavours and have to guess what they are. We're going to assume that the pesto one is going to be pretty easy to guess.

It gets very busy, so be prepared to either get down there early or queue, particularly at weekends.
