Eat Momo will be serving up Nepalese dumplings in Borough Yards

Eat Momo will be serving up Nepalese dumplings in Borough Yards

It feels as though we've spent much of this year writing about new openings in and around Borough Market. And that growth in interesting new restaurants looks to be continuing with this latest opening in Borough Yards.

Eat Momo comes from sisters Trishna and Dipa Chamling and, as you might guess from the name, is centred around Nepalese steamed dumplings. The sisters have being inspired by regional recipes across Nepal and will be serving up chicken, pork and beef momo, flavoured with coriander and spices. They'll also have vegetable momo packed with ginger. All the dumplings will come with traditional accompaniments - tomato chutney and spicy chilli pickle for dipping.

Taking over one of the railway arches, the restaurant is being described as a "canteen-style eatery" where you'll be able to pop in and watch the chefs handcraft each momo while ordering your own. The sisters even have a curated playlist of traditional Nepalese folk songs that their dad is putting together. It sounds like it will be a very handy space if you're at the market or nearby, with both a riverside terrace and also a handy hatch if you fancy momo-to-go.

The sisters say "We have such vivid memories of making momo with our family over the years... They represent home comforts - and we aim to bring that love & care of momo-making to Borough Yards."
